From Karate Kid to World Muay Thai Champion to Movie Star to Gemologist to entrepreneur Blake Lirette has had an exciting ride so far. His training, fighting, and studies have taken him all over the world where he’s had the opportunity to experience diverse cultures, learn from masters, and share what he has learned with others.
Martial Arts background
Blake “the Blade” Lirette started Martial Arts at age 6 in his home town, Vancouver, BC after his mother took him to see the Karate Kid movie…since leaving the theater he’s never stopped punching and kicking! He entered his first Karate tournament at age 7 and has been competing ever since. Some highlights of his fight career include: BC, Canadian, North American, and World Title belts. He’s a veteran of K-1 Las Vegas and has traveled extensively for his training and fighting. He holds a 3rd degree Black Belt in full contact karate under Master Farid Dordar and has experience many styles including: Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai, Jujitsu, and wrestling; together his combination of training methods has made his fighting technique world class. Since his first Karate tournament twenty something years ago Blake has fought in hundreds of competitions ranging from Karate, Boxing, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai fights. He is currently training MMA in Vancouver and Las Vegas. Throughout his travels he has gained extensive sparring, training, and fight experience. “Martial Arts has taught me so much about myself and about life –it has taught me how to face fear, harness power and focus it on positive mental, physical, and spiritual growth in myself and others around me”, says Lirette.
Teaching and helping people break through personal barriers is a passion of Blake’s which he’s fostered throughout the years while giving seminars and running some of Canada’s biggest, most successful, and cutting edge martial arts schools. He offers mental and physical warrior training to anybody from first timers to pro athletes.
Movies, commercials, and Television
Also involved in the movie industry Blake has guest stared in numerous television series, commercials, and video games and has worked closely with stars such as Eddy Murphy, Jessica Alba, Morgan Freeman, Ben Stiller to name a few.
Gemology, Jewelry
In 2006, while training Muay Thai in Bangkok, Blake studied at Gemology Institute of America’s Bangkok campus. GIA had him studying diamonds and coloured gemstones eight hours a day and five days a week for seven months. Blake graduating from GIA’s intensive program with top marks, and a Graduate Gemologist certification
Plans for the future:
Now at age 31, equipped with years of grueling mental and physical training under his belt, once again he is set to push things to the next level. He is committed to helping others become their best. He leads by example as he sets the bar sky high for himself and works relentlessly to achieve his goals. He recently signed a three-fight contract with Battlefield Fight League –a brand new MMA fight promotion out of Vancouver, BC. His next fight is TBA –look out, the Blade is coming!!
